I can't believe it's been two years since #HoldingUpTheSky was released into the wide, wide world. Where has the time gone?! This debut novel of mine was a bit of an experiment, to be honest, but I'm immensely proud of what it has achieved and how it grew my confidence as an author.

If you're into contemporary YA novels about queer kids with mental health challenges and tragic pasts and too much on their plates and who are definitely NOT pining over the new kid at school...I'd be chuffed if you gave this book of mine a whirl. 😁

This is still just the beginning of the journey for the #GracebornSeries, but it feels monumental to have reached this point! I'm taking this week and next week off to let my brain chill. Honestly, I feel like i have no brain cells left right now.

I did a thing this week 👉👈

The 4th draft of "Blood of Old", book 1 in the #GracebornSeries, is finally DONE!! There are a few minor things I need to go back and fix, but first, I'll be taking 2 weeks off to rest and celebrate!!

At more than 190k words long, this epic fantasy novel has been a labour of love for the better part of a decade, and I'm so excited to start getting it ready for publication. 😄❤️

...as I finally wrap up the 4th draft of "Blood of Old", book 1 in the #GracebornSeries. The climax of this book is full of blood and fire and rage. A lot of things get BURNED DOWN, both literally and metaphorically.

I swear, the closer book 1 of my epic fantasy series gets to being done, the more time I spend playing around with different cover concepts. They're mostly terrible, but it's fun trying to picture what the *official* cover should look like one day. Not that I'm any closer to a decision on THAT front! 😅

One new 5⭐️ review on Goodreads and one DM from a reader telling me how much the book meant to them put a smile on my dial for DAYS. Knowing people are enjoying the book makes all the work that went into it worth it. ☺️

So...if you're keen for a queer contemporary YA novel about a stressed-out perfectionist MC who just wants to get through his last year of school and do well enough to please his mother and pretend their family isn't completely *broken*, but finds his carefully laid plans derailed by the bright and bubbly new kid who is absolutely NOT ATTRACTIVE...you should give #HoldingUpTheSky a try!!

N is for Narod! 👇

It's been a while since my last post following the A to Z of worldbuilding elements in the #GracebornSeries, so today I wanted to talk about one of the more interesting places.

Nestled against the Draegonspine, Narod was the capital of Stargard, a powerhouse nation of the Age of Discord who was a neighbour and close ally of Corraidhin, the Hallowed Land.

After the Fall of Corraidhin, Stargard started to decline. The final nail in the coffin was when the Stormbringers, a group of renegade Graceborn, destroyed Narod in a violent firestorm that thereafter became known as the Razing of Narod.

Civil war then ripped Stargard apart, and it splintered into the nations of Maribor and Tarnow. Narod is significant to my story for a number of reasons, but I think it's got a pretty colourful history on its own... 😁

Anything lifechanging happened to you recently?

My life has certainly had a bit of a shakeup in recent times with a certain furry arrival. I haven't got as much else done as I'd planned, but that's part of it, I guess. Here are some of the things I've achieved in the third quarter of 2024:

⭐️ Wrote 61k words for the 4th draft of "Blood of Old", book 1 in my epic fantasy series
⭐️ Put the 1st draft of book 3 on hold until I have some more brain space
⭐️ Read another 3x books and reached my reading goal for the year!
⭐️ Welcome little Violet into my life, and she is just the cutest, cheekiest thing
⭐️ Reached the first milestone in my running goal by getting to 10km
