Book cover revealed!

I have been dreaming of this day for years: the day where I can finally reveal to the world the official cover for my very first published book. Holding Up the Sky is my contemporary YA novel, which will be published by my indie imprint Southscript Press on 02 November 2022. But enough of that! Let’s take a look at this baby, shall we? Here it is…

What do you think? I am absolutely in love with this cover! Not only is it beautiful, but it perfectly captures the mood and key themes of the book. I am extremely grateful to the cover designer, Franziska Stern @coverdungeonrabbit, who managed to take the chaotic stream of thought that was my brief and turn it into this masterpiece. I can’t stop smiling at it! 🤩

What else is news?

It has been an incredibly busy few weeks, with everything coming to a head now that the cover design has been finalised. A lot has happened even since my quarterly update at the end of June! Here’s a quick snapshot of where things are at and what’s going to happen from here:

Advance Reader Copies. Next week, I’ll be sending out electronic Advance Reader Copies (ARCs) of Holding Up the Sky to my Advance Reader Crew. If you’re interested in receiving a free digital copy in exchange for posting an honest review online, there is still time to sign up.

Finalising formatted files. I’ve now finished formatting the files for both the paperback and ebook versions of the novel and submitted them for validation to IngramSpark (the publication platform I’m using). In the end, I actually found it quite a simple process, which is good!

Proof copies and pre-orders. And perhaps most exciting of all, with all the relevant files completed, I’ve been able to order a printed proof copy and start getting things set up for pre-orders! I’m expecting pre-orders to be available from August, but more on that at a later stage…

Anyway, that’s basically what’s going on as my publishing journey inches closer to the release date. While we wait, you can add the book to your Goodreads TBR or get your hands on an exclusive free sample by signing up to my newsletter. Thanks for reading, and you’ll be sure to hear more from me soon!

What do you think of the cover for Holding Up the Sky? Have you ever gone through a book cover design process before? How are things going with you?
